Create an Automatic Twitter List with IFTTT
So, I wanted to follow a conference online but didn’t have the time to Scroll through all the hashtags to manually add people to a list. So I jumped onto IFTTT (IF This Then That) and set up some automation. Here’s how I did it…
Set Up Twitter List
- Click on your avatar and select LIST (or go to https://twitter.com/YOUR-TWITTER-NAME/lists)
- Click the CREATE NEW LIST button
- Enter your LIST NAME and a Description
- Make the list Private or Public
- Press SAVE LIST
Set Up IFTTT
- Click your username in the top right corner and click CREATE
- Click THIS
- Search for TWITTER and click on the icon
- Select NEW TWEET FROM SEARCH
- In SEARCH FOR put in you #Hashtag, e.g. #linc15 (this was the conference hashtag)
- Click CREATE TRIGGER
- Click THAT
- Search for TWITTER and click on the icon
- Select ADD USER TO LIST
- In TWITTER USER NAME leave this as USERNAME
- In LIST NAME add the list name you created in Twitter
- Click CREATE ACTION
- It will then present a summary of the recipe, you can then receive notifications when the recipe runs
- Click CREATE RECIPE and watch your new Twitter list grow.
